Buckle Up

by Harley Patton

My past is written in my synapses it's just a matter of electricity
My last kiss is nothing but a passage scrawled out in my brain's crooked typography
So I keep these paragraphs bound together with leather under lock and key
You can read them if you ask, but you ought to know better than to get to know me

My bone safe is no place for those eager eyes of yours
But it's too late to renegotiate so you'll get what you asked me for
so grab yourself a seat as this might take a while; there's a lot to read
It won't be hard for you to see that i am still a child and i live quite recklessly

So I'm gonna write all of my appeals in marrow
I'm gonna tie my words to the heel of a sparrow
he'll fly this disclaimer to your back porch
I'm sure we'll laugh about it later like two leopards at the lion's door

instrumental break
verse no vocals

My future is traffic jams and u-turns I fear that I will always be a little behind
But if you were to ride along and sing to me my favorite songs I'm sure that we'd both make it on time
